Around the Clubhouse, we are always calling to each other to come see something amazing or funny or cool we have stumbled across on the internet, or we’re forwarding them to each other or posting them on our FB pages. (You gotta see this!…) SO…I asked everyone to send me their favorite cool-fun-awesome thing of the week to share with all of you, and oh my gosh — they sent me the best stuff…you’ll see why I love my job and the people I work with so much! Enjoy. (Don’t miss the last one…)

Melody Ross - Writer, Teacher, Artist - Brave Girls ClubMelody: I got to meet Chelsea La Bate, a musician, in North Carolina and I absolutely fell IN LOVE with her music, her voice and her, as a fellow sister. I know you will love it!

Brave GIrls Club LOVES Ten Cent Poetry!

Kathy Wilkins - Brave Girls ClubKathy (me): I always LOVE Jeanne Oliver’s blog posts and taking peeks into her oh-so-lovely home. I LOVE her new post showing lots and lots of her beautiful table-scapes…things I’ve never thought of but that I am going to shamelessly copy! :)

Madi Ross - Believe in your selfie!Madi: When did I stop doing this? When is it suddenly not okay to love the way we look? In my opinion we all should be able to look at ourselves in the mirror and think we are beautiful because we all are in our own way. I believe in my selfie and I challenge you to believe in YOUR selfie. You are beautiful, don’t let anyone tell you different! MY pick is this amazing TED talk by Meaghan Ramsey.

Malary Ross Hansen - Brave Girls ClubMalary: http://www.designsponge.com/2014/10/diy-project-leather-folders.html   DIY Leather Folders (!!!!!!!) I think these would be so beautiful with some leather stamping, stain, paint, stitching, rhinestones, etc.

Brave Girls Club - Kallie MaughanKallie: My mom told me that when my littlest brother was a toddler, he would hold her hand in the car. She says she knew he would stop someday, so she tried to memorize what his little hand felt in hers. She says she can still remember it well. I’ve tried to do the same thing…toddler arms around my neck, nursing late at night, holding hands…   My pick is this beautiful poem found this week on Embracing Homemaking:   http://embracinghomemaking.net/2014/09/last-time/

Brock Ross - Brave Girls ClubBrock: When I first heard this piece of art, I was kind of put off. It was weird. Why is this guy yelling? Then I started listening to the words, and realized what a grippingly beautiful and poignant piece of poetry they weave. Think of it that way–this is a poet performing a reading of his poetry, set to very pretty music. Only he doesn’t just say the words, he delivers them, full-potency, from his blood and guts. The words are truly beautiful; look them up if you have trouble understanding. I’ve also been privileged to meet this guy in person and converse with him for a while. He is a wonderful, humble dude. Anyway… enjoy! Wooden Heart by the band Listener.

….so I’ve carved a wooden heart, put it in this sinking ship
hoping it would help me float for just a few more weeks
because I am made out of shipwrecks, every twisted beam
lost and found like you and me scattered out on the sea
so come on let’s wash each other with tears of joy and tears of grief
and fold our lives like crashing waves and run up on this beach
come on and sew us together, just some tattered rags stained forever
we only have what we remember

jeffJeff:  I don’t know about you, but my mind is always going a million miles a minute.  I’m always thinking about things I need to get done, problems I have to solve, and most importantly, people I need to show my appreciation to.

Sometimes my train of thought changes so abruptly that my intentions don’t get translated into actions, but the fact that I thought about it somehow equates to an increase in the score on my internal “scoreboard”, so I end up thinking I’m doing better at showing my appreciation than I really am.

I felt a little like Tommy Boy getting hit with a 2×4 after reading this article. :)

I love the song Think Good Thoughts by Colbie Caillat. It speaks volumes about the perfect way to feel better about ourselves. Hear it on youtube here:

….and check out the lyrics here:  http://www.paroles-musique.com/eng/Colbie_Caillat-Think_Good_Thoughts-lyrics,p148876   And finally….here’s what Roald Dahl has to say on the subject:

Good thoughts by Colbie Caillat

Bonus! Lynette also sent me a rib-tickler that had me laughing so hard! You’re gonna love this:

That’s all for now! Until next time….
